Gregory Paul Johnson is an American Christian author and the lead pastor of Memorial Presbyterian Church in St. Louis, Missouri. He is known for his writings on Christianity and homosexuality, and for his role in the Revoice conference. Johnson is one of the first openly gay pastors in the Presbyterian Church (USA).
Early Life
Johnson grew up in a conservative Christian home in California. He attended Wheaton College, a Christian liberal arts school, where he studied English and philosophy. After graduating from Wheaton, Johnson worked as a youth pastor for several years. In 2001, he was ordained as a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA).
Ministry
Johnson is the lead pastor of Memorial Presbyterian Church in St. Louis, Missouri. He is also the founder and director of the Revoice conference, a gathering for LGBTQ Christians and their allies. Johnson's writings on Christianity and homosexuality have been praised by some for their honesty and compassion, and criticized by others for their departure from traditional Christian teaching.
Personal Life
Johnson is married to Chris Glaser. They have two children. Johnson is an avid runner and enjoys spending time outdoors.
